About this blog

Chronic. Invisible. Debilitating. (and hard to diagnose.)

These 3 words describe Soeun’s physical discomfort when he is in Australia.

The actual blog part of this blog (Scrapbook) is partly things I wrote in June 2016 during Migraine Awareness month reflecting back on 2011-12, trying to understand things, as well as links to relevant articles I'm reading these days. And bits and pieces of other things about life with the Dizzy Monster.

new type of attack? which food?

Last night after dinner Soeun had some symptoms come on suddenly. He said it was different to normal, mainly because ear ringing is usually first and it wasn't this time, also because the head pain was in a different place this time- deep in the centre rather than on the side.

We had bread I made with olive oil and seasoning on it (pepper salt dried herbs) and salad (tuna from a an, chunks in water, with cucumber, red caps and french beans).

I'm pretty sure he has eaten all those things before. The can of tuna was in date , I only know this because i checked as i was opening it as there was less water than i expected. The top of the tuna was a different colour than the rest of it but is smelled and taste ok to me. But maybe it was somehow sus?

Or was it the olive oil? or the old dried herbs? or the yeast in the bread? (tyramine? as mentioned on the trigger page)

egg was a suspect before, and now we feel more sure of that. if soeun eats an omelette he gets weird ear stuff right away, we haven't noticed it when egg is in other things, i guess a small amount doesn't give him the instant  discomfort but not that we know egg is a trigger we can look out for it

15 Words That Mean Something Totally Different When You Have A Chronic Illness

When a dizzy spell means you've got a silent migraine: Many sufferers are undiagnosed as they don't have headaches

  • Susan Glasgow, 69, life was turned upside down by attacks of vertigo
  • Overwhelming feelings of nausea made her rarely able to leave the house
  • Sometimes, the woman from Hertfordshire would have to lie down all day
  • She was stunned to be told her symptoms were caused by a migraine
